Liftable vs Microsoft Clarity

Microsoft Clarity records sessions and draws heatmaps, and its site says it is free forever with no traffic limits. It also summarises recordings with AI and answers questions about your data. It works on any site, not only Shopify.

Liftable does not replace what Clarity is for: it has no recordings and no heatmaps. It starts from the other end, with a Shopify-specific list of what looks wrong on your store and a drafted fix for you to approve. Its tests have run only on its own development store.

What Clarity does well

  • Free, with no traffic limits, by its own description.
  • Session recordings and click and scroll heatmaps that show exactly what a visitor did.
  • AI summaries of recordings, and a chat that answers questions about your data.

Choose Clarity if

  • You want to watch what shoppers did, and you have the time to interpret it.
  • Your store is not on Shopify, or you also need it in a mobile app.
  • You want a free tool from a large vendor.

Where Liftable is behind today

The Liftable column says what is built, what is built but has not run on a merchant's store, and what is not built. Read the chips before the prose.

Self-serve plans at $125, $400 and $999 a month are coming later. The store scan is free for anyone.
CapabilitySession recordings and heatmapsMicrosoft ClarityYes. This is what Clarity is for.Liftable todayNoNo recordings and no heatmaps. The pixel is built: a theme app embed on the storefront and a Shopify web pixel at checkout, held under 30 kB and silent until the shopper consents. It records the steps a shopper took, not a video of the session. Until a store turns it on, the evidence comes from the crawl.
CapabilityAI summaries of sessionsMicrosoft ClarityYes: one-click summaries, and a chat over your data.Liftable todayNoNo summaries of recordings, because there are no recordings. Liftable's agent answers questions about your store's opportunities, sessions and tests in plain English.
CapabilityDecides what to fix firstMicrosoft ClarityNo. Clarity shows behaviour; choosing what matters is for you.Liftable todayPartly builtA free crawl of your URL runs 35 of the 39 planned checks and shows each finding on your own pages, desktop and mobile, with its evidence. It prints no dollar figure, because a crawl has seen no shopper and no order.

The free scan prints no dollar figure.
CapabilityWrites the fixMicrosoft ClarityNo.Liftable todayPartly builtDrafts change sets from 20 fix templates for you to read and approve. Liftable never writes theme files: a page change can only be shown through its theme app extension, which covers five trust and delivery fixes so far.
CapabilityRuns and reads a split testMicrosoft ClarityNo. Clarity is not a testing tool.Liftable todayBuilt, not on a merchant's store yetShipping and discount tests run as Shopify Functions, and a shipping test has run on our own development store. Page tests run through Liftable's theme app extension. No test has run on a merchant's store.

The only thing pooled across merchants is anonymised test effect sizes, kept only where five or more stores and ten or more tests contributed, and a store can opt out.

The difference is where the work happens.

Clarity shows you what happened; deciding which of it matters, what to change and whether the change worked is still your job. Liftable is built for those three: it lists what to fix, drafts the change for your approval, and measures it on orders. Today it finds and drafts from a crawl; its tests have run only on its own development store.

How Liftable compares.

Replay tools show you what happened and testing tools split your traffic. Liftable does the work in between, and is new: the last column says what it does today.

Questions about Microsoft Clarity

Can I keep Clarity and use Liftable?

Yes. They do different jobs: Clarity records, Liftable finds and drafts. With Liftable's pixel on, running both means two scripts in the storefront, and the scan's app-bloat check will tell you what each costs in load time.

Clarity is free. What am I paying Liftable for?

Not for recordings: Liftable has none, and its scan is free too. What is paid is the work after you know something is wrong: deciding what to fix first, drafting the change, and measuring whether it created more orders, with our founding team doing the hands-on work for now. If you have the time to watch recordings and a developer to act on them, Clarity may be all you need.
