What is a product detail page (PDP)?
A product detail page (PDP) is the page that presents a single product: imagery, price, variants, delivery information and the add-to-cart action. Shoppers referred by ads and by AI assistants usually land on it first, which makes it the page that decides most sessions on many stores.

In more detail
Because paid traffic and AI assistants both send shoppers straight to a product rather than the homepage, the PDP is often the only page a session sees. Every question the shopper has (will it fit, when will it arrive, what does delivery cost, can I send it back) has to be answerable there, or the session ends.
The common failures are dull and consistent: variant selectors that do not show availability, a size guide that is not wired up, delivery cost first appearing at checkout, and images without a phone-sized source, so phones download desktop files.
Key points
- Usually the landing page, not a page reached by browsing.
- Must answer fit, delivery time, delivery cost and returns without navigation.
- Dead controls such as size guides, swatches and filters concentrate here.
